I was lucky enough to get dragged to the 9:30 Club last fall to witness one of the most underrated 90s rock bands of, well, the entire decade. Expecting to see this one (two if you count "Tyler") hit wonder drudge through their set and finish with "Possum Kingdom," I was pleasantly surprised to find that the front half of the club turned into an unrelenting mosh pit, while the upstairs and back were packed with individuals singing along to their energy-laden tracks. Moral of the story, this is one band you will not want to miss...especially at an intimate venue like the Black Cat. For under $20, you are guaranteed to have a great time. The Toadies newest album, No Deliverance is just as good as their 90s predecessors, and their live act, captured on 2 new live CDs (both available on iTunes) will give you a better idea of their energy.

Do yourself a favor and check out their website, and listen to some of their newer music on the media player located on the right hand side. Toadies Website

PS. One of DC's finest young talents, Tony Reali of ESPNs Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption has been spotted moshing with friends at local Toadies shows while chanting "U-S-A!" and "O-ba-ma!" He has been quoted as saying, "My favorite band of all time is a band called the Toadies." One thing is for sure, if you are close enough to the stage, Reali will assure you that you have a highly entertaining night...and one you won't soon forget! How many people get to say they decked "Stat Boy" in a moshpit? This guy for one!
